SAMATA YOGA LINEAGE

Samata Yoga is a Raj Yoga. It is also known as Ashtanga Yoga the eight limbed yoga, the classical yoga system, of eight progressive steps to illumination.
The lineage of Samata Samashti Dharma is known as a Purist Lineage. This means it is not affiliated with any religion or doctrine other than that found in various Yoga Upanishads, the Tirumantiram and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.
The Lineage itself has its roots in antiquity. Until now these teachings have remained a mystery to all but a chosen few. They were handed down from teacher to teacher in the form of Sufi, a style of teaching without word but transferred mind to mind.
The Grand Master, known as Sat Guru Dev was born in a city in the North Punjab known as Bahadurpur. He was well known in the area as a great healer and mystic. Many saints and mystics have called this district home, including the mystic sage Vishvamitra who wrote the Gayathri Mantra
Sat Guru Dev received his initiation from the holy sage named Jaganath Swami at a Kumbla Mela about two centuries ago. Then Sat Guru Dev initiated a young man from New Delhi. His name was Surinder Pal who then built an Ashram in Uttar Pradesh. The young Surinder would later become known as His Holiness Neelkanth Maharaj and for many years would work on metaphysical research.
In 1967 a young Australian woman known as Nova McGrath began her yogic journey as a Hatha Yoga Instructor until a meeting with His Holiness. This meeting also changed the course of her life and she studied for many years with him. This study was both Sufi and traditional learning. She was initiated into the Lineage of Samata Samashti Dharma. Nova became known as Swami Durgananda, the first woman to be initiated.
Since then Swami Durgananda has taught and lectured all over the world and welcomed many into the teachings of Samata Samashti Dharma, also known as Samata Yoga.
